As we celebrate Women’s History Month, the Black Business Focus Group (BBFG) proudly acknowledges the incredible contributions of women entrepreneurs who have paved the way for future generations. Fawn Weaver – Preserving Legacy and Building a Whiskey Empire


Fawn Weaver, the founder of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, has made history by honoring Nathan "Nearest" Green, the first known African American master distiller. Through her work, she has created the fastest-growing whiskey brand in the U.S. This success shows how storytelling and heritage can drive a powerful business mission.


Oprah Winfrey – Media Mogul, Entrepreneur, and Philanthropist


Oprah Winfrey’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming a global icon is nothing short of extraordinary. As a media powerhouse, she has built a billion-dollar empire. With her influence, she uplifts communities and empowers the next generation of leaders.


Ursula Burns – A Visionary Business Leader


As the first Black woman to serve as CEO of a Fortune 500 company, Xerox, Ursula Burns shattered glass ceilings in corporate America. Her leadership style continues to inspire a new wave of Black executives striving for excellence in business.


Rosalind Brewer – Leading with Innovation and Integrity

Janice Bryant Howroyd – Entrepreneurial Excellence


Janice Bryant Howroyd, the founder and CEO of ACT-1 Group, is the first Black woman to own a billion-dollar company. Her success in the staffing and workforce solutions industry highlights the significant impact of Black women in entrepreneurship.


Cathy Hughes – Pioneering Black Media

Bozoma Saint John – A Marketing Powerhouse

Mellody Hobson – Driving Financial Empowerment


As Co-CEO and President of Ariel Investments, Mellody Hobson is a trailblazer in the finance world. She advocates for financial literacy and investment opportunities for underrepresented communities. Her work embodies the essence of financial empowerment.


Angel Rich – Championing Financial Technology


Angel Rich, known as the "next Steve Jobs" of financial literacy, has developed innovative tools to improve economic access for underserved communities. Her contributions in fintech are pivotal in bridging wealth gaps.


The McBride Sisters – Revolutionizing the Wine Industry


Robin and Andréa McBride are changing the face of the wine industry with their venture, McBride Sisters Wine Company. As the largest Black-owned wine company in the U.S., their brand champions inclusivity and diversity in winemaking.


Kim Roxie – Revolutionizing Clean Beauty


Kim Roxie, the founder of Lamik Beauty, is transforming the beauty industry with clean, vegan cosmetics designed for women of color. Recognizing the lack of representation in mainstream beauty brands, she created Lamik to celebrate diversity and empower women. Her work highlights innovation and purpose-driven entrepreneurship.
