On this day we should honor and recognize those who helped paved the way for Black Laborers in the US. A. Philip Randolph helped lead the way with the Brotherhood of the Sleeping Car Porters in 1925. The BSCP had a membership of upwards of 18,000 Black railway workers of the Pullman Company and fought against labor inequality, unfair wages, and poor working conditions carried out by the Pullman Company which had exploited the situation of newly freed Black people in search of employment opportunities.
Many believe this paved the way for the modern labor unions that sprouted up in the years following his efforts. We know that Black labor creates wealth. Let's continue to work together to ensure that our labor creates wealth for our communities.
It's our time!
