Freedom Was Fought For: Honor Juneteenth with Purpose

Juneteenth is more than a date—it’s a declaration.
It marks the moment in 1865 when enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. But that freedom was not handed over. It was fought for by the fierce resistance of our ancestors.
From the daring revolts of Nat Turner and Denmark Vesey, to the disciplined bravery of Black Union soldiers in the Civil War, our liberation was carved out through courage, resistance, and sacrifice.
At the Black Business Focus Group (BBFG), we believe in honoring that truth not just with words, but with action.
